If you think you're hard to fit, you probably are. If it's a simple issue of width, just call us and ask for a little advice.

Normal women's width is B, wide is C, and double wide is D.
Men's normal width is D, wide is E, and double wide is EE, and we have up to EEE.

We have many shapes and widths in our last selection. When you place your order, please include:

1. The size you normally wear to accommodate your needs
2. The size you would wear if you could get it

For example, if a woman has a wide foot, she may choose to wear a larger shoe to get comfort in the width. She may regularly buy a size 10 only because she can't get a 9.5 wide. From Quoddy Trail, she should order a 9.5 wide (C). A man may have to buy a size 14 only because it's hard to find a 13 double wide. From Quoddy Trail, he would order a 13EE. (Same goes for narrows, there just aren't as many of you!)

Special Orders

Often we can help without having to hand cut a new pattern, but if we do, we will let you know that up front, and we would quote your price after we review the measurements.

If you have a serious concern, beyond width or maybe a narrow heel, we might have to take a custom order. For custom orders, we charge a $10.00 consultation fee to work one on one with you, take any special measurements, and we might also ask you to send in your foot tracings.

Don't try this alone, because it's almost impossible to make accurate tracings of your own feet. It's like playing Twister with a pen. Stand on a brown paper bag, wrapping paper, or some other large piece of paper. The medium doesn't matter, but it must be large enough for the entire foot. We would not trust a tracing that's pieced together.

Have your friend or loved one hold a pen just a little slanted away from vertically straight as he/she draws around your feet, touching the heel, instep and around the toes the entire way around. If the pen's absolutely vertical, our reading of the tracing might be too large. If the pen is too close to where the skin meets the paper, it might be too small.

If you have a trouble spot (or more than one), like a bunion or growth that causes you discomfort, indicate this on the tracing. Add anything else you want that will help. And don't think we can't help you because your feet are too big or too narrow or two different sizes . . . one of our good customers has a 10 left foot and 11.5 right foot, he's so happy to not have to buy two pairs!
. . . and our cousin lost a couple of toes after an ice-fishing accident, and we were able to fit him too!
